One of the best things to arise in recent years — in my opinion— is the removal, or lowering of some of the barriers of entry.
It has become easier for a lot of creatives to get their work in front of the right audience.
Up until a few years ago, if one wanted to record a single it had meant booking studio time, finding a record label A&R person to listen and give it the nod.
These days a whole record can be recorded and mastered in someone’s garage, with a much smaller financial investment than before. Getting in front of the right audience is also quite a bit easier, with Soundcloud, Spotify, and the like.
For artists of all stripes, it has now become much easier. We have so many platforms for the arts that the internet has become a virtual smorgasbord of artistic delights.
How many writers would never have been granted the opportunity before if their manuscript ended up in front of the wrong editor? Or the editor was having a bad day.
I am not saying that every bit of music, writing, and art being put out there is the greatest. However, many more people are getting the opportunity to get out there with their art and getting it seen. We never know what doors might be opened by the right person getting their eyes and ears on it.
